Our Fish Scale Jewelry is uniquely Handcrafted in Panama by artisans for whom this art is passed down through generations. Using genuine fish scales, usually from Grouper or Snapper, the scales are graded for size & quality, then cleaned & processed to remove all debris & fishy scent. Scales are then dyed using natural colors extracted from trees, flowers & other natural sources. Then the scales are fashioned into jewelry pieces of the artist’s choosing & decorated with gold or silver accents & glitter. The result is a beautifully delicate, lightweight, strong handmade piece of wearable art. No one will ever guess these marvelous jewels originated with a fish!

Unlike the fish scale earrings usually seen, made of multiple dangling scales in bright colors by unskilled laborers, these pieces are made by the skilled artist only.

Therefore, these are not items you will see in many places as the skill & time required to construct the pins, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets makes it impossible to reproduce them in mass quantities.
